Concerned about wrinkles?

  • How do wrinkles form?

Wrinkles are an inevitable aspect of aging. As we grow older, our skin becomes thinner, drier, and loses elastin, leading to a diminished ability to shield itself. Consequently, wrinkles, creases, and lines gradually develop on our skin.

In addition to the natural aging process, continuous muscle contractions play a significant role in the formation of facial wrinkles. These repetitive muscle movements create ‘dynamic wrinkles’ that are visible only when the muscle is in use.

Without intervention, these dynamic wrinkles can evolve into ‘static wrinkles,’ becoming permanently ingrained in our skin over time.

  • How to reduce formation of wrinkles?

While facial movement produces dynamic wrinkles, repeated expressions over time lead to the development of deeper lines and folds, referred to as static wrinkles.

Cosmetic aesthetics focus on preventing the formation of static wrinkles and improving the appearance of existing fine lines by softening and smoothing them.

For optimal results, this treatment is recommended to use as a preventative measure.

By utilising cosmetic aesthetics, one can diminish the visibility of wrinkles and achieve a softer skin appearance.

Please note that individual outcomes may differ. A consultation before the initial treatment is necessary to discuss any health conditions or medical history. This allows us to tailor our approach to meet your specific needs effectively.

Treatment and Aftercare

After receiving wrinkle relaxer injections, downtime is minimal, and most individuals can resume their daily activities right away. However, depending on your skin’s sensitivity and any medications you are taking (such as aspirin, ibuprofen, or other blood thinners), you may experience temporary, minor side effects like:

  • Slight swelling at or near the injection site
  • Mild tenderness or bruising around the treatment areas
  • Small red dots at the treatment sites
  • A mild headache, based on the treated area

Next Steps:
To account for varying results, we recommend attending a follow-up appointment two weeks post-treatment to assess your results.

  • Avoid touching the treated area: To prevent the spread of bacteria and ensure proper healing, avoid touching, rubbing or applying makeup to the injected area for at least 4 hours after the procedure.
  • Stay upright: For the first four hours after the injections, it’s recommended to remain in an upright position and avoid lying down. This helps to prevent the migration of the botulinum toxin to unintended areas.
  • Avoid strenuous activities: Refrain from engaging in strenuous exercise, heavy lifting, or activities that cause excessive sweating for the first 4 hours. Sweating can potentially spread the botulinum toxin to adjacent muscles.
  • Avoid facial treatments: Steer clear of facials, chemical peels, microdermabrasion, or any other facial treatments for at least one week after injections. These treatments may increase the risk of complications or interfere with the results.
  • Use ice packs (if advised): If your injector recommends it, you can apply ice packs wrapped in a cloth to the treated area. This can help reduce swelling and alleviate any discomfort. However, be sure not to apply excessive pressure or ice directly on the skin.
  • Refrain from alcohol: Avoid alcohol for at least 4 hours after the procedure. Alcohol consumption can increase the risk of spread of the botulinum toxin.
  • Be patient: The full effects of botulinum toxin can take up to 2 weeks to appear. It’s essential to be patient and wait for the results to take effect which can take two weeks. Follow-up appointment: If your injector provider has scheduled a follow-up appointment, make sure to attend it. This allows her/him to assess the results and address any concerns or questions you may have.

Wrinkle reduction treatments are a simple, non-surgical procedure where tiny injections are accurately placed to relax specific facial muscles that are responsible for wrinkles due to persistent underlying tension and repeated contractions. The relaxing of these muscles results in a much smoother and fresher appearance to the treated area.

Made from a natural, purified protein, wrinkle relaxers have a 30 year safety profile in clinical practice and have been used effectively in more than 20 million procedures worldwide.

You will start to see effects in 2-3 days, with maximum full effect 10 – 14 days after treatment.

The most common treatment areas include forehead, frown lines, crow’s feet and can even be used to slim the jawline and calf muscles.

There is minimal downtime with wrinkle relaxers injections and most people can return to regular day-to-day activities immediately after.

This treatment is perfect for those who are either looking to reduce already visible signs of aging, or for those who are looking at prematurely slowing the internal aging process in their muscles.

The injections needed for wrinkle treatment are tiny and typically painless. Although some individuals may experience a slight pinching or pricking sensation, it is usually mild and bearable. Since wrinkle reduction procedures work by relaxing the muscles, they can potentially alleviate pain rather than induce it.
